{"id":4184,"date":"2026-06-08T18:00:22","date_gmt":"2026-06-08T15:00:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/support.withsecure.com\/en\/?post_type=support_article&#038;p=4184"},"modified":"2026-06-08T18:00:22","modified_gmt":"2026-06-08T15:00:22","slug":"important-windows-7-sp1-and-windows-server-2008r2-must-be-patched-to-maintain-protection","status":"publish","type":"support_article","link":"https:\/\/support.withsecure.com\/en\/support-articles\/important-windows-7-sp1-and-windows-server-2008r2-must-be-patched-to-maintain-protection\/","title":{"rendered":"IMPORTANT: Windows 7 SP1 and Windows Server 2008R2 MUST be patched to maintain protection"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3>Issue:<\/h3>\n<p>Windows 7 SP1 and Windows Server 2008R2 MUST be patched with\u00a0KB4474419 to maintain protection due to changes made by Microsoft related to driver signing.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>If patch\u00a0KB4474419 is not installed, the F-Secure client will fail to install updates and request for restart \/ reboot.<\/p>\n<p>The product user\u00a0interface will show a different status, depending on if you are using a for home or business F-Secure product:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Business products, such as Client Security, Server Security and Server Protection, will show\u00a0&quot;Computer is not protected&quot; status.<\/li>\n<li>For home products, such as SAFE and Internet Security, will show &quot;You are not protected&quot; status.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Resolution:<\/h3>\n<p>Due to changes made by Microsoft related to driver signing, Windows 7 SP1 and Windows Server 2008R2 will require a patch to be installed, in order for our drivers to protect these computers.<\/p>\n<p>Most devices will have already received this patch, as it was released as a <u><a href=\"https:\/\/support.microsoft.com\/en-us\/topic\/sha-2-code-signing-support-update-for-windows-server-2008-r2-windows-7-and-windows-server-2008-september-23-2019-84a8aad5-d8d9-2d5c-6d78-34f9aa5f8339\" target=\"_blank\" title=\"https:\/\/support.microsoft.com\/en-us\/topic\/sha-2-code-signing-support-update-for-windows-server-2008-r2-windows-7-and-windows-server-2008-september-23-2019-84a8aad5-d8d9-2d5c-6d78-34f9aa5f8339\" rel=\"noopener\">Security update by Microsoft in March 2019<\/a><\/u>, and should have been automatically applied. However, some customers maintain their Windows Updates separately, and they should immediately ensure they have the patch from <u><a href=\"https:\/\/www.catalog.update.microsoft.com\/search.aspx?q=kb4474419\" target=\"_blank\" title=\"https:\/\/www.catalog.update.microsoft.com\/search.aspx?q=kb4474419\" rel=\"noopener\">KB4474419<\/a><\/u> applied.
