How to move the WithSecure Policy Manager Server to the new Windows Server?<\/p>\n

Resolution:<\/h3>\n

Follow these steps to transfer the WithSecure<\/span> Policy Manager Server<\/span> to a new server.<\/p>\n

    \n
  1. Backup the current Policy Manager<\/span> database from the old server:\u00a0\n
      \n
    1. Stop the Policy Manager Server<\/span> service\u00a0\n
        \n
      • Policy Manager 15: net stop fsms<\/span><\/li>\n
      • Policy Manager 16: net stop wspms<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n
      • Create a backup of the following directory:\n
          \n
        • Policy Manager 15: C:\\Program Files (x86)\\F-Secure\\Management Server 5\\data\\<\/span><\/li>\n
        • Policy Manager 16: C:\\ProgramData\\WithSecure\\NS\\Policy Manager\\Policy Manager Server\\Data\\<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n
        • Start the Policy Manager Server<\/span> service on the old server:\n
            \n
          • Policy Manager 15: net start fsms<\/span><\/li>\n
          • Policy Manager 16: net start wspms<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n
          • Install the Policy Manager Server<\/span> on to the new server<\/li>\n
          • Apply the back-up\u00a0copy of the Policy Manager<\/span> database folder to the new Policy Manager<\/span> server:\n

            1. Stop Policy Manager Server<\/span> service\u00a0\n
                \n
              • Policy Manager 15: net stop fsms<\/span><\/li>\n
              • Policy Manager 16: net stop wspms<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n
              • Replace\u00a0the directories with the\u00a0back-up versions from\u00a0step:\n
                  \n
                • Policy Manager 15: C:\\Program Files (x86)\\F-Secure\\Management Server 5\\data\\<\/span><\/li>\n
                • Policy Manager 16: C:\\ProgramData\\WithSecure\\NS\\Policy Manager\\Policy Manager Server\\Data\\<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n
                • Restart Policy Manager Server<\/span> service:\n
                    \n
                  • Policy Manager 15: net start fsms<\/span><\/li>\n
                  • Policy Manager 16: net start wspms<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n
                  • Configure\u00a0both, new and old, Policy Manager Server address value in the policy to point to the new Policy Manager Server:\n
                      \n
                    1. Open Policy Manager Console<\/span><\/li>\n
                    2. Select a host or policy domain from the domain tree<\/li>\n
                    3. Go to\u00a0Settings\u00a0> Windows >\u00a0Centralized management\u00a0<\/b><\/li>\n
                    4. In the\u00a0Policy Manager Server address\u00a0<\/b>text field, type in the new Policy Manager Server address and in the respective HTTP\/HTTPS<\/b> text fields the designated values for these ports<\/li>\n
                    5. Set the padlock <\/b>icons tailing these text fields to the locked position, which will ensure to enforce the new value<\/li>\n
                    6. Distribute\u00a0(Ctrl+D)<\/i> the new policy<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

                      Once the managed hosts have fetched the new communication settings from the old Policy Manager<\/span>, they will start to communicate with the new Policy Manager Server<\/span>.<\/p>\n

                      Note #1:\u00a0<\/b>If the WithSecure clients continue communicating with the old Policy Manager Server, be sure to verify connectivity from the clients to the new Policy Manager Server's designated ports (HTTP\/HTTPS).<\/p>\n
