After uninstallation of Elements Agent from Windows device it loses internet or network connectivity
Last updated
Issue:
After uninstalling Elements Endpoint Protection Agent from a Windows device, the computer loses internet connection. Every network connection is blocked.
Resolution:
When Elements Agent is uninstalled, it will remove the following outbound firewall rules created by the WithSecure firewall profile:
- Allow outbound UDP traffic
- Allow outbound TCP traffic
This means that if the Windows Defender Firewall default outbound setting is set as:
- Outbound connection that do not match a rule are blocked
The device will not be able to connect anywhere since firewall is blocking the connection.
You need to either:
- Manually set the default rule for unknown outbound connection to be allowed
- Restore the default policy for Windows firewall
To manually set the default rule for unknown outbound connection to be allowed:
- Open Windows Defender Firewall with Advanced Security on the Windows computer
- Go to Action > Properties from the top menu
- From the Domain profile, Private profile and Public profile tabs, set the Outbound connections as Allow (default)
- Click OK
To restore the default policy for Windows firewall:
- Open Windows Defender Firewall with Advanced Security on the Windows computer
- Click Restore Default policy from the right side of the window
