How to create a targeted scheduled scanning task for Elements Endpoint Protection?

Issue:

How to create a targeted scheduled scanning task (daily, weekly or monthly) for Elements Endpoint Protection (EPP for Computers or EPP for Servers)? How to have a scheduled scan only scan a specific folder and its sub folders?

Resolution:

There is no way of creating a targeted Scheduled scanning task from the Elements Security Center Portal profiles, but you can create one locally on the computer.

Follow these steps to create a targeted scheduled scanning task with Windows Task Scheduler:

  1. Open Windows Task Scheduler
  2. Go to the Task Scheduler Library folder
  3. Right-click and select Create a Basic Task
  4. Set the Trigger as Daily, Weekly or Monthly and click Next
  5. Set the Start date and time and click Next
  6. Set action as Start a program and click Next
  7. Add the following to the program/script field: "C:\Program Files (x86)\F-Secure\PSB\fsscan.exe"
  8. Add the following to the add arguments field: -s <Target folder> (for example "C:\Program Files (x86)\Test") and click Next
  9. Finish the task by clicking Finish

This task will now run at the date and time you chose and will scan the folder and subfolders of the Target folder. The scan settings will be the ones shown on the Scanning settings page in the Elements Endpoint Protection Agent local settings.

The latest scan report can be viewed locally by following these steps:

  1. Open the Elements Agent user interface
  2. Click on the Manual scanning icon (magnifying glass)
  3. Click Open last scanning report

All the scanning reports will also be available in C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\F-Secure\AntiVirus\ScanningReports\

The latest scanning report will also be visible in the Elements Security Center Portal:

  1. Log in to the Elements Security Center Portal
  2. Go to the Environment > Devices page
  3. Click on the device
  4. Go to the Scan Report tab
