Do WithSecure endpoint products have a Host-based Intrusion Prevention System (HIPS) function?
Products:
- Elements Endpoint Protection (Elements EPP for Computers and Servers)
- Business Suite Client Security and Server Security
Resolution:
Yes, WithSecure product such as Elements Endpoint Protection, Client Security and Server Security do have a Host-based Intrusion Prevention System (HIPS).
The feature is called DeepGuard and instead of relying solely on traditional signature-based detection (which checks files against a database of known threats), DeepGuard acts as a behavioral layer of security. It monitors applications in real-time to intercept and block unknown or zero-day threats based on how they act.

Issue:
Do WithSecure endpoint products scan emails for infections or viruses?
This article applies to:
- Business Suite: Client Security / Server Security
- Elements Endpoint Protection: EPP for Computers and EPP for Servers
Resolution:
WithSecure endpoint products do not scan emails immediately. Real-time scanning will automatically start when you run a file from an email, and will scan it before allowing the file to open or execute.
Elements Endpoint Protection and Client Security protect your devices but does not scan email traffic at the mailbox level. For mailboxes hosted in Microsoft 365 (Exchange Online), the product for this is WithSecure Elements Collaboration Protection. Elements Collaboration Protection analyses attachments and links in emails that users both receive and send, checking for malware, ransomware and phishing. It connects cloud-to-cloud to your Microsoft 365 tenant, so no server or extra software is needed, and if you have an Elements product already, Elements Collaboration Protection can be managed from the same Elements Security Center you already use.You can read more about the features of Elements Collaboration Protection here: Features | Elements Collaboration Protection | Latest | WithSecure User GuidesIf you would like a trial or a quote for Elements Collaboration Protection, you can contact your WithSecure partner
