    Issue:

How do I identify and remove the infected item(s) WithSecure has detected on a .PST archive (Outlook Data File)?

    Resolution:

Follow the steps below to configure the scanning report to show additional information when an email is detected inside an Outlook PST file.
These steps will help you to identify the email so that it can be removed manually after the scanning:

    1. Open the Registry Editor (regedit.exe)
    2. Navigate to the following location:
      1. HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\F-Secure\Ultralight\GKH2\Plug-Ins\F-Secure Capricorn
    3. Add a new 'String Value' (REG_SZ) with the following information:
      1. Name: CustomSettings
      2. Data: mailboxmode=2
      3. Other scanning modes available are:
        1. 0 = none (default, mailbox is not scanned)
        2. 1 = enable mailbox scanning
        3. 2 = enable scanning and provide extended report (inside infection name)
    4. Restart the "F-Secure Ultralight Hoster" service:
      1. net stop fsulhoster
      2. net start fsulhoster
      3. (If you are unsure on how to restart a service, just restart the computer)
    5. Manually scan the PST. The report will now show message-related fields (email subject, folder, attachment name)
    6. Once the message has been identified, proceed to remove it manually in Outlook:
      1. Delete the message with [shift-del] (so that it will not be moved to trash).
      2. Finally follow these steps to compact the PST database:

  • Getting an error of “Your login to WithSecure™ Partner Portal failed.” when logging into Partner Portal

    Issue:

Getting an error of "Your login to WithSecure™ Partner Portal failed. Please try using a different browser, or you can open a support ticket at: https://www.withsecure.com/en/support " when logging into Partner Portal.

    Resolution:

This error message appears typically when user has an existing WithSecure user account, but that account does not have the access rights on it for the Partner Portal. If you have several user accounts, it could be that you are for example logged in to Elements portal with an account that doesn't have Partner Portal access rights. If you then in the same session try to log in to Partner Portal, it will automatically try to log in with the account you are logged in with in Elements portal. Try to therefore close the browser window or open an incognito window before trying to log in again.

If you do not have Partner Portal access rights and you need them, an existing user with Partner Portal administrator access rights can add you as a user: https://community.withsecure.com/en/kb/articles/32823-adding-new-users-to-the-partner-portal

If you have been given Partner Portal access rights and received the Welcome email but you are still unable to login to the portal:

      • If you have no WithSecure user account (for example Elements Endpoint Protection, Collaboration Protection or Vulnerability Management user account) from before, make sure you have created one using the registration process from the Welcome email you have received. The registration email is sent from crm-admin@withsecure.com. The account can be created from the following page if you already have received the welcome email https://portal.withsecure.com/signup Use the same email address that you used to request the access rights.
      • If you have had a WithSecure user account from before and now receive this error message when logging in to Partner Portal after receiving the Welcome email, open a support request so that we can check the status of your account's user rights.
      • If you have several WithSecure user accounts, try to open an incognito / inprivate window in your browser and then try to log in again.
      • if you have a network wide ad-blocker active (e.g. Pi-Hole), this is known to cause problems for the login. Try disabling or bypassing this solution.

If you do not receive the Welcome email in your Inbox, please check your spam/junk email folder as it could be filtered by accident and if there is any rule to move mail from subfolders in Outlook.

    1. How do I exclude files and folders from Deepguard, if the files are located in the network drive?

      Issue:
      • DeepGuard blocks an application. This was determined to be a high-risk application by system control heuristics.
      • After the file SHA-1 hash and file path is excluded in WithSecure Client Security or Server Security DeepGuard feature continues to block the application
      Resolution:

You can exclude the network drivers from being scanned, by doing the following:

      1. Log into Policy Manager Console
      2. Select a host or policy domain from the domain tree
      3. Click on Settings
      4. Select Standard view
      5. Select Real-time scanning
      6. Scroll down to Files and applications excluded from scanning
      7. Select Do not scan the following files and applications

      • Select File path if the file that you want to exclude always uses the same path.
      • Select Folder path if you want to exclude all files in a specific folder.
      • Select Application SHA-1 if the path for the file that you want to exclude may vary across different hosts.

If the file or folder is located in share drive, you need to add the exclusion in UNC format.
        Example:
        \\servername\share\folder\to\the\app.exe

If this location is also mapped to a drive letter (e.g. N:\), then another exclusion must also be added in the mapped format as the following:
        N:\folder\to\the\app.exe

For more information on using wildcards in exclusions, refer here

      5. DeepGuard prevented an untrusted application from modifying another process

        Issue:

A DeepGuard Security alert is sent to the Elements Endpoint Protection portal's Security events list or Policy Manager Console's Alerts list.

        Example:

Security alert: DeepGuard prevented an untrusted application from modifying another process.
Details: DeepGuard prevented an untrusted application from modifying another process. Application path: C:\Program Files\exampleprogram\examplefile.exe File hash: 2179dde55137b4a228135af0b45acc7752e13e15

Can this be a false positive and can the file be excluded?

        Resolution:

DeepGuard is equipped with a self-protection feature where it prevent any process from terminating WithSecure's processes. DeepGuard monitors the OpenProcess function, which is used by the program to access the WithSecure process information with a termination rights.

When DeepGuard detects that the program is trying to open a WithSecure process with the PROCESS_TERMINATE flag, it shows a block message and removes the flag, preventing the ability of the program from terminating the process.

This alerts will not affect the functionalities of the accessor program as DeepGuard only removes the termination rights, hence made the OpenProcess called more safe towards WithSecure processes.

If you want to make sure it is not a false positive, you can open a submit a sample ticket.

If you are absolutely sure it to be a false positive and you do not want to have the alert shown, as a workaround you can exclude the program directly by using its path + filename or by excluding the SHA1 value shown in the alert.

Follow these steps to add an exclusion:
