When creating a SCCM task, how to check if Elements Agent is installed on a computer?
Last updated
Issue:
What is the best way to remotely check that Elements Agent (EPP for Computers or EPP for Servers) has been successfully installed on a computer in situations where there is an automatic SCCM task set to perform the installation of Elements Agent.
We want to prevent reinstallation of Elements Agent by the SCCM task if computer already has the Elements Agent program installed on it. How to manage this centrally?
Resolution:
Best way to determine if Elements Agent is installed on a computer after an SCCM installation is to use Windows Management Instrumentation (WMI), since WMI Provider is enabled by default in the WithSecure Office (Open) default profile.
You can with PowerShell retrieve from example the real-time scanning status, which would prove that the Elements Agent is installed and running correctly:
- $av = Get-WmiObject -Namespace "root/fsecure" -Class AntiVirus2
Write-Host "Is real-time scanning enabled: " $av.RealTimeScanningEnabled
To read more about the WMI integration features of Elements Agent, you can view the User Guide: Obtain properties via WMI | Elements Endpoint Protection | Latest | WithSecure User Guides
If you do not wish to use WMI, you can alternatively simply view the Environment > Devices list in the Elements Security Center portal to make sure that the device has appeared on the list.
