Elements Agent device’s update download fails with error “failed: 203 (write error)”

Issue:

Elements Agent device's update download fails with error  "failed: 203 (write error)"

I: Checking for updates from https://guts2.fsapi.com
I: Downloading ulupdater-win32/1625486578 failed: 203 (write error)

Resolution:

We recommend first to try to run fsaua-reset.exe to see if that fixes the issue. The tool removes all existing downloaded updates, restarts the services and re-downloads the updates.  You can download the FSAUA-reset Tool from our support tools page: Support tools – WithSecure™

If issue persists, make sure that the device is able to connect to all necessary WithSecure services. To check the connectivity, you can run the WithSecure Connectivity Tool found in the product's installation folder: C:\Program Files (x86)\F-Secure\PSB\ui\wsconnectionchecker.exe

If connectivity is OK, you can try if enforcing the Elements Agent to use HTTPS to download the updates fixes the issue:

  1. Log in to the Elements Security Center portal
  2. Navigate to the Security configurations > Profiles page
  3. Open the profile that is in use on the devices
  4. Go to the Communication settings page
  5. In the Communication settings section, enable Use HTTPS to download updates
  6. Click Save profile
