How to stop or disable services of Elements EPP for Service (Linux) / Linux Security 64 successfully?
Running the "master-switch" command alone is not permitted.
Resolution:
It is possible to stop or disable the services of Elements EPP for Servers (Linux) or Linux Security 64 on your Linux server by using the "/opt/f-secure/fsbg/bin/master-switch" command.
Command to disable the services:
/opt/f-secure/fsbg/bin/master-switch off
Command to enable the services:
/opt/f-secure/fsbg/bin/master-switch on
Command to check the status:
/opt/f-secure/fsbg/bin/master-switch status
In order to run this command successfully, there is a need to enable the setting of "Allow user to turn off all security features" in the profile by performing the steps below.
For Elements EPP for Servers (Linux):
- Login to Elements Security Center
- Go to the Security Configurations > Profiles page
- Under For Linux, select your Linux profile name
- Go to General > Tamper protection
- Enable the "Allow user to turn off all security features" setting
- Click on "Save profile" button to apply the changes
Now the master-switch can be used to turn off all the security features of Elements Linux Protection.
For Linux Security 64:
- Log in to the Policy Manager Console
- Select a host or policy domain from the domain tree
- Go to the Settings tab
- Navigate to the Linux > Centralized management settings page
- In the Bypass Product Security section, Set Allow user to unload products as "Always allowed"
- Distribute the policy (Ctrl + D)
Now a local admin user can use the master-switch to turn off all the security features of Linux Security 64.
