Getting started with WithSecure™ Elements Endpoint Protection

Follow the steps below to get started with using WithSecure™ Elements Endpoint Protection.

You need a WithSecure™ Business Account to access Elements Security Center ↗, the management portal for all WithSecure™ Elements products.

When you purchase from a WithSecure partner, the partner typically creates your first administrator account and sends you an email with a temporary password. If your account hasn’t been created yet but you have a subscription key, go to elements.withsecure.com/self-register ↗ to create one.

Tip: If you haven’t received your activation email, check your junk mail folder first.

Elements Endpoint Protection covers Windows computers and serversMacLinux servers, and mobile devices (Android and iOS). To protect a device, install the WithSecure™ Elements Agent on it. There are two ways to get started:

Send an email invitation

The simplest option for a small number of devices. In Elements Security Center, go to Environment > Devices, select the three-dots icon next to Devices, and choose Add new device. Follow the wizard to select a subscription and send users a download link by email. This is also the recommended method for mobile devices.

Download the installer

Better suited for deploying to many devices at once. Go to Downloads in the sidebar, select the installation package for your platform, then choose the product and subscription key — the key is embedded in the installer automatically.

  • Windows: EXE (manual install) or MSI (silent/scripted install)
  • Mac: MPKG file for manual install, or distribute via MDM (Intune, Jamf)
  • Linux: DEB or RPM package, or a tar archive
Deploying at scale? The user guide covers deployment via Active Directory GPO, Microsoft Intune, Jamf, and other MDM tools. See the link in Further reading.

When a device is added, it gets a default security profile. To tailor settings to your organization, create your own profile under Security Configurations > Profiles.

Select the tab for the platform you want to configure — Windows ComputersWindows ServersMacLinux, or Mobile — then select Create a profile.

Tip: Select the three-dots icon next to any existing profile and choose Clone profile to use a default profile as your starting point instead.

Give the profile a name, adjust the settings you need, then select Save and Publish. To assign it to devices:

  1. Under Environment, select Devices.
  2. Select the devices you want to update.
  3. At the bottom of the page, select Assign profile, choose the profile, and select Assign.
